Our Safety Approach

River Retreat Merrijig supports nationally recognised guest safety guidance developed in collaboration with organisations such as Surf Life Saving Australia, state fire authorities, and child safety organisations. These resources are designed to help guests make informed decisions and enjoy their stay safely, particularly during the warmer months.

Seasonal & Outdoor Safety

Our property is located in a beautiful natural setting. Guests are encouraged to take appropriate precautions when enjoying outdoor activities, including:

  • Staying informed about local weather and bushfire conditions

  • Practising water and river safety at all times

  • Supervising children around water and outdoor areas

  • Following any local emergency advice or warnings

Bushfire Awareness

Merrijig and the surrounding High Country can be affected by bushfire conditions during warmer months. Guests should familiarise themselves with current fire conditions, total fire ban days, and any local warnings during their stay. Emergency information and guidance will be provided prior to arrival when relevant.

In the event of an emergency:

  • Call 000 for Police, Fire, or Ambulance

  • Follow instructions issued by local authorities

Guest Responsibility

Guests are responsible for their own safety and the safety of those in their care during their stay. We ask that all guests act responsibly, follow posted guidance, and take reasonable precautions while using the property and surrounding natural areas.
